Dignity in old age: caring for Rekha
Rekha can't afford the care She needs after a fall and hip fracture; we're asking for $4,300.
Anywhere in the world1,000 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 81. After a fall and hip fracture Rekha can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Rekha desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Rekha worked all of her life as a factory worker, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,300 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $3,250
• Medication and prescriptions: $690
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $360
Every share and every dollar helps.
