Dignity in old age: caring for Ramón
Ramón, 85, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $1,650 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 85. After a fall and hip fracture Ramón can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ramón desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Ramón worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $1,300
• Medication and prescriptions: $135
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $120
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $95
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
- Ramón

Wishing Ramón a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
thanks for sharing this, Ramón. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
