Dignity in old age: caring for Queen
Queen, 80, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $550 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 80. After a fall and hip fracture Queen can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Queen desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Queen worked all of her life as a nurse, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $550 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $310
• Medication and prescriptions: $100
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $40
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100
