Dignity in old age: caring for Paula
Paula can't afford the care She needs after a heart attack; we're asking for $4,900.
🇺🇸 United States285 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 75. After a heart attack Paula can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Paula desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Paula worked all of her life as a nurse, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $4,900 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $300
• Medication and prescriptions: $700
• Part-time carer (four months): $3,900
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
