Dignity in old age: caring for Oliver
Oliver, 90, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $5,350 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 90. After a diagnosis of dementia Oliver can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Oliver desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Oliver worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $5,350 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $4,100
• Medication and prescriptions: $560
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $390
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $300
