Dignity in old age: caring for Noreen
Noreen, 84, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $450 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 84. After a heart attack Noreen can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Noreen desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Noreen worked all of her life as a factory worker, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $450 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $70
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
• Part-time carer (six months): $335

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Rawalpindi!
Thank you. If you're in Rawalpindi I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. I'll keep the page updated.
good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out.
thanks for sharing this, Anum. I hope things turn around soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Blessings.
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Thinking of Rawalpindi.
Hope things get better soon, Anum. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. All the best
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Rawalpindi.
