Dignity in old age: caring for Naledi
Help Naledi stay in her own home with four months of part-time care.
🇿🇦 Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa468 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 81. After worsening Parkinson's disease Naledi can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Naledi desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Naledi worked all of her life as a schoolteacher, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $250 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $145
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $60
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
Glad we found this place.
