I'm caring for me, who's 75. After worsening Parkinson's disease Madelyn can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Madelyn desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Madelyn worked all of her life as a nurse, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,700 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $490
• Part-time carer (eight months): $4,000
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $210
