Dignity in old age: caring for Madeline
Madeline can't afford the care She needs after a stroke last August; we're asking for $3,900.
🇺🇸 Ohio, United States622 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 94. After a stroke last August Madeline can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Madeline desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Madeline worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,900 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $520
• Medication and prescriptions: $510
• Part-time carer (four months): $2,870
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
