Dignity in old age: caring for Lea
Help Lea stay in her own home with six months of part-time care.
🇩🇪 Germany1,373 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 86. After a fall and hip fracture Lea can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Lea desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Lea worked all of her life as a carpenter, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $1,600
• Medication and prescriptions: $560
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $330
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $210
Glad we found this place.
