Dignity in old age: caring for Julieta
Help Julieta stay in her own home with eight months of part-time care.
🇦🇷 Argentina1,448 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 78. After worsening Parkinson's disease Julieta can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Julieta desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Julieta worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $960
• Medication and prescriptions: $120
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $120
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Good luck, Karina. Shared this with my family. After 25 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless!
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Julieta!
Sure. The biggest one is part-time carer (eight months), $960. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
Stay strong, Karina. Wishing Julieta a smooth procedure and a full recovery. We're a small family in San Jose but we're thinking of you.
Wishing you peace. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Córdoba.
Stay strong, Karina. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Take care
Gave what I could, wish it was more. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out
Your post was clear and honest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
wishing you the best. Wishing Julieta a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
