Dignity in old age: caring for Irene
Irene, 75, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $200 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 75. After a diagnosis of dementia Irene can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Irene desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Irene worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $200 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $75
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $25
• Medication and prescriptions: $100
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
