Dignity in old age: caring for Heitor
Heitor can't afford the care He needs after a stroke last May; we're asking for $950.

I'm caring for my father, who's 82. After a stroke last May Heitor can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Heitor desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Heitor worked all of his life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $950 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $680
• Medication and prescriptions: $100
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $60
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $110
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Wishing you the best. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Dar es Salaam so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Birmingham.
