Dignity in old age: caring for Greyson
Greyson, 90, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $3,800 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 90. After a fall and hip fracture Greyson can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Greyson desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Greyson worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,800 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $2,600
• Medication and prescriptions: $560
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $450
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $190
