Dignity in old age: caring for Gregory
Gregory, 77, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $5,400 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 77. After the death of his spouse Gregory can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Gregory desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Gregory worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.

• Part-time carer (six months): $4,500
• Medication and prescriptions: $340
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $230
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $330
