Dignity in old age: caring for Galih
Galih, 74, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $750 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 74. After worsening Parkinson's disease Galih can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Galih desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Galih worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $750 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $630
• Medication and prescriptions: $50
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $25
