Dignity in old age: caring for Frank
Frank, 88, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $4,650 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 88. After a heart attack Frank can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Frank desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Frank worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,650 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $3,150
• Medication and prescriptions: $610
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $450
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $440
