Dignity in old age: caring for Faisal
Faisal, 92, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $2,850 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 92. After a diagnosis of dementia Faisal can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Faisal desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Faisal worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $2,450
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $185
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $215

What exactly is the $2,850 for?
Sure. The biggest one is part-time carer (four months), $2,450. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
