Dignity in old age: caring for Fábio
Fábio, 76, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $1,250 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 76. After a diagnosis of dementia Fábio can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Fábio desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Fábio worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $910
• Medication and prescriptions: $90
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $75
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $175
Glad we found this place.

keep going, Eduardo. Shared this with my family.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Fábio.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. part-time carer (eight months) comes first ($910) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
Hope it all works out, Eduardo. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick.
rooting for you, Eduardo. Your post was clear and honest. God bless!
Take care, Eduardo. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of São Paulo.
Looking forward to the next update. Please keep us posted. Greetings from Sheffield.
You're not alone. Your post was clear and honest. Wish I lived closer to Hialeah so I could bring a meal. God bless.
So sorry you're going through this, Eduardo. It takes guts to ask. Well done. God bless.
Stay strong. Get well soon. Love from Gazipur
