Dignity in old age: caring for Ernestina
Help Ernestina stay in her own home with three months of part-time care.
🇬🇭 Takoradi, Western, Ghana984 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 90. After a diagnosis of dementia Ernestina can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ernestina desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Ernestina worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $650 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $450
• Medication and prescriptions: $65
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $50
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $85
Every share and every dollar helps.
