Dignity in old age: caring for Benjamin
Benjamin can't afford the care He needs after a diagnosis of dementia; we're asking for $3,700.

I'm caring for my father, who's 78. After a diagnosis of dementia Benjamin can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Benjamin desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Benjamin worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,700 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $2,450
• Medication and prescriptions: $610
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $200
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $440
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope March is when things finally get easier. Love from Peshawar.
Sending love. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. We're a small family in Amiens but we're thinking of you.
