Dignity in old age: caring for Bakary
Bakary, 81, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $5,100 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 81. After a heart attack Bakary can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Bakary desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Bakary worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $5,100 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $4,250
• Medication and prescriptions: $330
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $165
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $355

Thank you all. We're at 18% now ($913). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.
Quick update: $539 raised so far (11%). we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
