I'm caring for my father, who's 79. After a fall and hip fracture Armando can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Armando desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Armando worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $900 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100
• Part-time carer (three months): $660
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $140

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Armando
Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations is $100 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.
Thinking of you and your family. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
