Dignity in old age: caring for Anthony
Anthony, 82, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $7,450 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 82. After the death of his spouse Anthony can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Anthony desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Anthony worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $7,450 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $5,750
• Medication and prescriptions: $660
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $370
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $670
