Dignity in old age: caring for Alina
Help Alina stay in her own home with three months of part-time care.
Anywhere in the world69 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 83. After the death of her spouse Alina can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Alina desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Alina worked all of her life as a carpenter, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $700 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $380
• Medication and prescriptions: $180
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $40
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100
Every share and every dollar helps.
