Dennis was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in January. The surgeon at Sacramento University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $6,500 short.
my brother has been in and out of Sacramento University Hospital since January. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Dennis struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Dennis won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
