Dennis's cataract surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled cataract surgery in August is out of reach without help covering $6,950 of the cost.

In May I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal. My surgeon at London University Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $10,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $6,950 short.
Doctors at London University Hospital told me a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without cataract surgery. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $10,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $6,950 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,550
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,450
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $640
• Post-operative medication: $180
• Physiotherapy sessions: $910
• Travel and lodging for the family: $220
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
