Declan's cataract surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After a hernia that has become strangulated, Declan was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Declan was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in February. The surgeon at Sydney Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $3,650 short.
my father has been in and out of Sydney Community Hospital since February. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Declan struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Declan won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
