I'm caring for me, who's 96. After a diagnosis of dementia Dayo can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Dayo desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Dayo worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference. The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices. Where the $850 goes: • Part-time carer (six months): $620 • Medication and prescriptions: $100 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $35 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $95 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

  • is there anything that isn't money that would help Dayo?

    • So sorry you're going through this, Dayo. Gave what I could, wish it was more.

      • Stay strong, Dayo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
