Dawit needs a prosthetic leg - help us make it happen
A prosthetic leg would give Dawit independence - we're $950 away.
Anywhere in the world1,700 views
Dawit lives with muscular dystrophy. The occupational therapist at the Bahir Dar Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $950.
His current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Dawit could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $950 goes:
• prosthetic leg: $850
• Fitting and training sessions: $40
• Delivery and set-up: $20
• First-year servicing plan: $40
Thank you so much.
Updates from Tizita
Good news. Because of your gifts ($140 in total) I made the first payment toward first-year servicing plan. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
