Danjuma was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in June. The surgeon at Abuja General Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,300, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,150 short.
my father has been in and out of Abuja General Hospital since June. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Danjuma struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Danjuma won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
