Could you share an hour a week with Okta?

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Okta is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Okta, who's 79. Okta lives alone in Ubud, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 231 kilometers away. Okta loves baking, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Thinking of you and your family, Sari. Looking forward to the next update. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
