When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $200.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I've 1 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $200 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $70
• Utilities in arrears: $45
• Late fees and court costs: $85

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. first month of rent as a buffer comes first ($70) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
