Companionship wanted: Randall's old films and a cup of tea

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Randall is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Randall, who's 90. Randall lives alone in Leeds, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away. Randall loves old films, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Thursday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Hope it all works out, Harold. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.

Rooting for you, Harold. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.

You're not alone, Harold. Get well soon. My neighbor in Syracuse donated after I showed her your page.

        • Hang in there. Wishing Randall a smooth procedure and a full recovery!

          • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless.
