Community Pantry: keep the shelves full this harvest gap
Help keep a free food pantry open for neighbors in need in Iași.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Friday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 248 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 47% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Iași market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $770
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $280
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50

Good news. Because of your gifts ($186 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Quick update: $133 raised so far (12%). I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

Sure. The biggest one is rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), $770. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.
