Coimbatore heatwave relief - the Eastgate settlement
Neighbors in the Eastgate settlement are rebuilding after the heatwave; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇮🇳 Tamil Nadu, India1,118 views
The heatwave hit the Eastgate settlement on 13 August. My home was one of 87 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $850 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $150
• Clean water and purification supplies: $65
• Roofing sheets and timber: $390
• Tools and labor for repairs: $245
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Best of luck, Sunil. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
