Clean water and shade for Syracuse: restoring Cedar Beach
A neighborhood-led restoration of Cedar Beach needs $3,300 for saplings and equipment.
🇺🇸 Syracuse, New York, United States1,265 views
Cedar Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 79 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 196 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,900
• Tools and protective gear: $390
• Waste removal and skip hire: $740
• Signage and educational materials: $270
I hope life is good to you.

Stay strong. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Riyadh donated after I showed her your page
More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Santos but we're thinking of you
