Clean water and shade for Sydney: restoring Union Beach
Volunteers are restoring Union Beach in Sydney; $2,550 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇦🇺 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia882 views
Union Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 44 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 137 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $700
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,200
• Tools and protective gear: $650
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Wishing you peace, Keith. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
Wishing you the best, Keith. Looking forward to the next update. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care
Hope things get better soon, Keith. Hope you get there. Please keep us posted.
sending love. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 12 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Belfast
