Clean water and shade for Santa Rosa: restoring the Cedar hillside
Volunteers are restoring the Cedar hillside in Santa Rosa; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world1,815 views
The Cedar hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This October, 118 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 69 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $220
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $15
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

keep going. This could happen to any of us. After 22 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
Hope things get better soon, Rey. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 27 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
thinking of you and your family, Rey. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in
Praying for you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
thanks for sharing this, Rey. Hope you get there.
