Clean water and shade for Paris: restoring the Maple riverbank
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Maple riverbank needs $1,800 for saplings and equipment.
🇫🇷 France2,086 views
The Maple riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 96 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,800 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $510
• Tools and protective gear: $480
• Waste removal and skip hire: $600
• Signage and educational materials: $210
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

So sorry you're going through this, Sophie. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor in Rohini donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from Dallas.
Wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Good luck, Sophie. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
More neighborhoods should do this. After 26 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless.
You're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. God bless.
