Clean water and shade for Manila: restoring the Pioneer hillside
Help us clean and replant the Pioneer hillside before the September planting window closes.
🇵🇭 Philippines1,227 views
The Pioneer hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 54 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 189 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $200
• Tools and protective gear: $75
• Waste removal and skip hire: $140
• Signage and educational materials: $35
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jasmine.
Native saplings and stakes is $200 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks, that means a lot.
