Clean water and shade for Laredo: restoring the Jacaranda hillside
Help us clean and replant the Jacaranda hillside before the November planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States1,351 views
The Jacaranda hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 110 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 45 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $510
• Tools and protective gear: $310
• Waste removal and skip hire: $640
• Signage and educational materials: $90
Glad we found this place.

Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Accra so I could bring a meal
Wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings!

You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.
