Clean water and shade for La Plata: restoring the Unity hillside
Help us clean and replant the Unity hillside before the November planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world618 views
The Unity hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 52 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 60 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $200
• Tools and protective gear: $155
• Signage and educational materials: $45

Shared this with my family. Thinking of La Plata
Praying for you, Ana. Hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to São Paulo so I could bring a meal. Thinking of La Plata.
hope things get better soon, Ana. Hope this works out for you. I'm in farming myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Cầu Giấy.
Hang in there. Great idea, hope you get there. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Tarkwa.
Take care, Ana. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
