Clean water and shade for Istanbul: restoring Lotus Creek

Help us clean and replant Lotus Creek before the October planting window closes.

Istanbul
Lotus Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 81 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 172 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $350 goes: • Tools and protective gear: $155 • Waste removal and skip hire: $125 • Signage and educational materials: $70 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  2. Update from Istanbul: I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. We're at 72% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 64% now ($226). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.
