Clean streets and rivers for Palmira: restoring Cedar Beach
Volunteers are restoring Cedar Beach in Palmira; $800 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇨🇴 Colombia334 views
Cedar Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 80 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 132 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $800 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $390
• Tools and protective gear: $150
• Waste removal and skip hire: $180
• Signage and educational materials: $80
I hope life is good to you.

Thinking of you, Regina. Great idea, hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Sending strength, Regina. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless
