Clean streets and rivers for Oakland: restoring Cedar Beach
A neighborhood-led restoration of Cedar Beach needs $1,900 for saplings and equipment.
🇺🇸 California, United States1,759 views
Cedar Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 41 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 53 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,250
• Tools and protective gear: $270
• Waste removal and skip hire: $310
• Signage and educational materials: $70
Every share and every dollar helps.

Sending strength, Lorena. I hope things turn around soon. My husband and I read this together. Love from Palmira.
hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Shinjuku so I could bring a meal. All the best.
