Clean streets and rivers for Lalitpur: restoring the Jacaranda wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Jacaranda wetland needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
🇳🇵 Lalitpur, Bagmati, Nepal988 views
The Jacaranda wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 139 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $130
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $85
If you're reading this, thank you.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ganga
Native saplings and stakes is $130 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.
