Clean streets and rivers for Lagos: restoring the Freedom wetland
Help us clean and replant the Freedom wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria858 views
The Freedom wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 94 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 113 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $100 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Signage and educational materials: $20
• Waste removal and skip hire: $45
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thinking of you and your family, Kunle. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Lagos
Take care. Hope this works out for you. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Blessings
So sorry you're going through this, Kunle. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My husband and I read this together.
Sending love. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. God bless
more neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from San Diego.
