Clean streets and rivers for Kota: restoring the Liberty wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Liberty wetland needs $455 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 India879 views
The Liberty wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 45 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 70 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $455 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $280
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Waste removal and skip hire: $110
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Glad we found this place.

Sending love, Riddhi. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. It's not much but it's yours.
Sending strength. More neighborhoods should do this. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless.
sending strength, Riddhi. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Thanks for sharing this, Riddhi. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
