Clean streets and rivers for Colorado Springs: restoring Union Creek
Help us clean and replant Union Creek before the April planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States1,007 views
Union Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 31 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 146 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $510
• Signage and educational materials: $260
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,780
With deep gratitude,
Héctor

Thank you all. We're at 10% now ($267). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
Update from Colorado Springs: the plan for signage and educational materials is now scheduled. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Héctor
